Pastor Greg Adkins is the senior pastor of Refuge Church, a vibrant, spirit-filled church located in Enterprise, Alabama. A humble, genuine leader and devoted husband and father, Pastor Adkins is relentless when it comes to preaching the Word of God, driven to reach both the local and global communities with the love and message of Jesus Christ.
Pastor Greg Adkins was set on fire for the Lord after receiving Christ, August 30, 1989. He and some other friends were invited to a church service by a friend. They went and sat on the back row. In the midst of service, the pastor of the church called all four young men up to the front. He blew on their faces and waved his hand over them. The other three of Pastor Adkins’ friends fell out onto the floor. Pastor Adkins, unsure of what to do, decided to fall out as well. He got up from the floor more confused than he ever was in his life. All Pastor Adkins could think was that church did not offer what he needed. A week later another friend pulled up in an orange red Camaro. Pastor Adkins decided to go to church with him. He felt the Spirit of God in the church that night. The Lord started moving; Sister Gert Riley was singing, “The God on the Mountain.” Pastor Adkins looked at his friend and said, “ I don’t know about you, but I am going to the altar!” This was the very night; September 24, 1989 that God set forth a running ministry in Pastor Greg Adkins’. Pastor Adkins submitted to his great Pastor and mentor Pastor David Simms. Pastor Simms had trained Pastor Adkins in evangelism, preaching, and many tools that a young minister needed. From this time Pastor Adkins evangelized for eight years throughout the United States and other countries. He ministered in Haiti, Africa, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Jamaica.
Pastor Adkins was then called to pastor his first church in Brundidge, AL. In 2001, Pastor Adkins soon heeded the unction he had always felt within the Lord calling him to start a church in his home area. After Pastorship in Brundidge, AL, he started a church in a house with twelve members. Shortly, the small home church received a storefront opportunity at the Old Dixie Dandy Store on Highway 51. Services were held here for nine years with an amazing growth which spurred the need for a new building.
In 2008, the Lord blessed Pastor Greg and his congregation; a door was opened which allowed them to move to the Legend Gymnastics Studio in Enterprise, AL. The attendance tripled as more space became available. An amazing endeavor to reach the community was enabled even further.
Since Pastor Adkins started Refuge in 2001, it has become one of the fastest-growing churches in the Southeast, growing from a small core group to the church that it is today. A highly sought-after speaker, his honest, down-to-earth approach and powerful communication skills make him a favorite guest speaker among conferences and conventions, as well as in churches across the country. He has appeared on several Christian television shows and radio programs. His sermons are broadcast live on the internet every Sunday from the pulpit of Refuge Church.
December 1, 2001 Pastor Greg married Jessica Morris. He met her at Southern Ohio Youth Camp where she attended growing up. Soon after they built their family beginning with their adopted son James in 2002, with additions of Kayleigh on September 30, 2003, Cayden on December 6, 2005, and Kammie on August 3, 2007. Jessica Adkins leads Praise & Worship as well as speaking in women’s services. James has become the media pastor alongside being the mission’s director for Refuge church. Kayleigh, Cayden, and Kammie have been filled with the Holy Ghost and live even their young lives for the cause of Christ. The family has served in the mission field both nearby and foreign lands
